75th Independence Day of India

               Happy Independence Day

Indian Independence Day is the nation's most beloved national day because the Indian people liberated themselves from the British without having massive armies or a national treasury. It's also incredible when you consider the length of British rule in India. During the 1700s, India's colorful fabrics and aromatic spices lured British traders to the Indian subcontinent. After 100 years, the British East India Company had a firm grip on all aspects of India's economy in a monopoly sanctioned by — and benefits — the British government. On the eve of 15th August 1947, India's tricolor (saffron, green and white) flag was first hoisted by Jawahar Lal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, at the Red Fort of Delhi. As the Urdu patriotic song goes, “Better than the entire world, is our Hindustan (India). We are its nightingales, and it (is) our garden abode.” India celebrates its Independence Day on August 15.

The day starts with a 21-gun salute

On Indian Independence Day, the prime minister hoists the Indian flag from Red Fort, Delhi, while someone sings the National Anthem, and soldiers fire off a 21-gun salute to commemorate the event.

The date changed

The actual date of India's independence is July 18, 1947, but Britain's Lord Mountbatten changed the date to coincide with the second anniversary of Japan's surrender to the Allied Forces on August 15.

Flag symbolizes progress

India's original flag was made up of the two symbolic colors of red and green, but Gandhi suggested adding a white stripe in the middle with a spinning wheel to represent India's national progress.

There's a mandatory no-fly zone

Safety measures call for a ban on air traffic over Delhi's historic Red Fort.

Our freedom fighters endured countless sufferings to give Indians their freedom. It is a day to remember and honor them.

1} Mahatma Gandhi

2} Sardar Vallabbhai Patel

3} Tantia Tope.

4} Lal Bahadur Shastri.

5} Jawaharlal Nehru

6} Subhash Chandra bose

This is the Diamond Jubilee Independence day of India.

Let us join hands to build a nation that everyone will look up to…. Let us join hands to make India a happy and prosperous nation…. Warm wishes on Independence Day.”

Have a safe, prosperous, and happy Independence Day .

Thankyou

Freedom Fighter 1

From now onwards I am starting the Freedom Fighter series in which I'll cover Freedom Fighters which are not popular and are lost in the pages of Indian history.

                            Matangini Hazra

Matangini Hazra was an Indian revolutionary who participated in the Indian Independence movement until she was shot dead by British Indian police in front of Tamluk Police station. She was affectionately known as Gandhi's buri.

She was born on 17 November 1870 in the small village of Hogla near Tamluk. She was the daughter of a poor peasant. She did not receive a formal education. She was married early and became widowed at the age of eighteen without bearing any offspring
In 1905, she became actively interested in the Indian independence movement as a Gandhian.  A notable feature of the freedom struggle in Midnapore was the participation of women. In 1932, she took part in the Civil Disobedience Movement. and was arrested for breaking the Salt Act. She was promptly released but protested for the abolition of the tax.
After being released, she became an active member of the Indian National Congress and took to spinning her own Khadi. In 1933, she attended the subdivisional Congress conference at Serampore and was injured in the ensuing baton charge by the police. As part of the Quit India Movement, members of Congress planned to take over the various police stations of Medinipore district and other government offices. This was to be a step in overthrowing the British government in the district and establishing an independent Indian state .

Matangini led one procession from the north of the criminal court building; even after the firing commenced, she continued to advance with the tri-colour flag, leaving all the volunteers behind. The police shot her three times. She continued marching despite wounds to the forehead and both hands.

As she was repeatedly shot, she kept chanting Vande Mataram, "hail to the Motherland". She died with the flag of the Indian National Congress held high and still flying.

OLYMPICS TOKYO 2020

                  TOKYO 2020 OLYMPICS

First thing first. India registered their best-ever haul of medals as Tokyo 2020 came to a close on August 9, 2021. A new high is always more intoxicating than the previous one. India has won seven medals, which is the highest medal tally in any Olympics we have participated in. Our previous highest total was six medals, which we won in the 2012 London Olympics. This time, the victory is even sweeter as we won a gold medal as well.

Neeraj Chopra became the first Indian athlete to win a medal and that too gold in track and field sports.

Ravi Kumar Dahiya and Meerabai Chanu won the Silver for the country.

PV Sindhu, Bajrang Punia, Lovlina Borgohain, and Indian Men’s Hockey team have bagged the bronze medals.

Neeraj Chopra:

There were a lot of hopes for this star athlete before the start of the Olympics. His previous records are the reason for those expectations. Before entering his first Olympics this year, the 23-year-old Neeraj won a gold medal in Javelin Throw in World Junior Championships, Asian Games, Common Wealth Games, and South Asian Championships. Realizing the expectations, he now grabbed the gold medal in the Olympics as well.

Mirabai Chanu:

India had never won a medal on the first day of the Olympics before. This edition has fulfilled the dream, all thanks to weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, who grabbed a Silver medal on the first day of the Olympics. She is the second Indian woman weightlifter who got an Olympic Medal. Karnam Malleshwari is the first one to achieve the feat.

PV Sindhu:

Sindhu won a Silver medal in Rio Olympics 2016. There were heavy expectations on her to win Gold this year. However, she lost to a better opponent in the semifinals. Sindhu then came back stronger in the bronze medal match and won it with a dominating performance.

Ravi Kumar Dahiya:

The star wrestler has been dominant throughout his campaign. But unfortunately, he had to bow down to a better opponent in the finals. However, he continued India’s tradition of winning a medal in wrestling.

Bajrang Punia:

Another wrestler who started his campaign with many expectations surrounding him is Bajrang Punia. Bajrang’s performance was not up to the mark in the semifinals which resulted in a defeat. However, he fought back hard and achieved a dominating win in the bronze medal match. Thus, India got its second medal in wrestling.

MEN'S HOCKEY TEAM

One of the most remarkable moments in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 was created by the Indian hockey team when it beat Germany in an exciting match to earn Bronze. With a Bronze on board, the Indian Hockey team ended a 41-year-long hockey medal drought

Lovlina Borgohain
Competing in her maiden Olympics, Borgohain carved a niche for herself in the history of Indian women’s boxing by clinching a bronze — India’s lone boxing medal at the Tokyo Games.
